Ten years and nearly $2.7 Billion spent to complete the initial draft of the human genome and we are now ushering in the era of the $1,000 genome! Thanks to advancements across the spectrum of bioinformatics, this audacious agenda--one that promises to change the face of modern medicine-- is now fully underway. Translational Bioinformatics, which is focused specifically on applications of bioinformatics innovations within a clinical context, encompasses nearly all areas of biological, biomedical, and clinical research. Since 2008, the TBI Summit has embraced the trans-disciplinary nature of translational bioinformatics, providing the premier forum for conjoining the pioneers of biology and health care.

The 2011 TBI Summit will deliver a comprehensive scientific program with a complementary set of tutorials, lectures, panels, and posters that are designed to feature the latest innovative deployments and translations of biomedical informatics research products to biomedical research and clinical care. We anticipate the Summit will once more be a stimulating and informative experience that focuses intensely on discoveries and innovations in biomedical research and patient care. With your organization’s help we will continue exploring the nature and scope of this now burgeoning research field by creating a unique learning environment and synergistically bringing together the finest minds in translational bioinformatics from academia, industry, government and non-profit sectors.

This year, four tracks focus on methodological innovations from bench to bedside, with a particular emphasis on clinical implications based on the latest in molecular and cellular biology innovations:

  • Concepts, Tools and Techniques to Enable Integrative Translational Bioinformatics
  • Integrative Analysis of Molecular and Clinical Measurements
  • Representing and Relating Phenotypes and Disease for Translational Bioinformatics
  • Bridging Basic Science Discoveries and Clinical Practice
